Uniden R9W Resources
Features designed with you and your vehicle in mind. All of our products are pre-programmed for optimal protection for most drivers, with the ability to customize to your exact driving preferences.
The Latest Technology for Long Range Protection
The Uniden R9W features revolutionary enhancements that inspire confidence that you are protected by the best speeding ticket protection system available today.
- All new LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) radar receiver technology that increases sensitivity and range.
- A more powerful CPU means a more responsive system and greater customization capabilities.
- Three I/O ports for current integration and future system expansion.
Directional Awareness
The Uniden R9W features front and rear LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) radar receivers that provide maximum directional range and sensitivity. Custom-installed alert LEDs and a hidden speaker let you know the specific police radar band being used and whether the threat is in front of or behind you.
OEM-like Custom Installation
The R9W’s front and rear radar modules, alert LEDs, and hidden speaker are discreetly installed throughout the vehicle — retaining the original factory appearance of your interior. You only know it’s there when you need it.
GPS Features
The Uniden R9W offers you fully customizable GPS technology features such as:
- Mark to Mute – Mute audible warnings of false, non-police radar locations you regularly travel past with a simple push of the MM button on your remote control.
- Mark to Alert – Mark locations to alert, such as dangerous intersections, speed traps, school zones, and red-light cameras, by pressing the MA button.
- Speed Monitor – Track your speed without taking your eyes off the road and be alerted if you exceed your pre-selected speed.
- Quiet Ride – Mute all alerts under a pre-selected speed. Eliminates alerts when you are driving at or near the posted speed limit (Default setting is 20 mph).
- Auto Filter – Sensitivity automatically adjusts to the optimum setting based on your vehicle’s speed. This “set it and forget it” option means you always have just the right amount of protection. Less sensitivity at lower speeds means fewer false alerts; increased sensitivity at higher speeds means more time to slow down and avoid that ticket.
Integration Ready
The Uniden R9W integrates with the Uniden R/TACH app for setup, firmware, and camera-database updates over Wi-Fi.

Filter Settings:
| Level/Mode | Sensitivity | Recommended Use |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Highway (Factory Default Setting) | Detects all bands of North American approved police radar at maximum range and sensitivity. | For highway travel or in any area where you are unfamiliar with the types of radar being used. |
| 2. City | The X-Band sensitivity is reduced, as it is the most common source of non-police radar signals. | When traveling in an urban area with minimal non-police radar signals. |
| 3. Filter | X-Band detection is eliminated completely. | Use this mode when traveling in congested traffic areas with a high concentration of non-police radar signals. |
| 4. Auto Filter | 0–45 mph – Filter setting sensitivity 46–55 mph – City setting sensitivity 56 mph+ – Highway setting sensitivity | Allows for less sensitivity in low-speed situations and greater range and sensitivity at higher speeds. |

Yes, in private passenger vehicles. Not permitted in commercial vehicles under Illinois law.
No. Receivers mount behind bumpers and trim, the host hides in the dash.
Most vehicles are a full day. We'll confirm when we see yours.
Not with this system — the receivers sit outside the glass. Metallic tint does cripple windscreen-mounted detectors, which is one reason we only install non-metallic ceramic film.
